At TD Wellbeing, we believe you are the expert in your own life. Sometimes life feels overwhelming, and that’s where support can make a difference. Our role is to listen deeply, understand your experiences, and work alongside you to build knowledge, resilience and coping strategies that help you move towards your goals.
We offer therapeutic support for individuals and families across all stages of life – from children and young people through to adults.
We bring wide experience in assessing and supporting people with a range of mental health concerns, including but not limited to:
Therapeutic Approaches
CBT
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
CBT helps people change how they think, feel and act. It is based on two main ideas: first, that our thoughts affect our emotions and actions; and second, that our actions and emotions can also affect our thoughts. CBT uses both behaviour therapy and cognitive therapy to help people overcome their problems. Behaviour therapy teaches people new skills and ways of coping with difficult situations. Cognitive therapy helps people identify and challenge negative or distorted thoughts that cause distress.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experience.
The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health. If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes.
DBT
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
DBT is based on the idea that our thoughts affect our emotions and actions, and that we can learn to cope better with difficult situations by changing our thoughts. The therapy has five main purposes: to teach new skills, to motivate people to use them, to help them apply them in real life, to create a supportive environment, and to train therapists to deliver the therapy effectively. The ultimate goal is to reduce the negative effects of emotional problems on people's lives.
SFBT
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
SFBT helps individuals change by building on their strengths and resources. It focuses on the goals and solutions that the client wants to achieve, rather than the problems and causes. SFBT uses techniques such as asking about pre-session change, miracle and scaling questions, and exploring exceptions to help the client discover and amplify their own solutions.
ACT
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
ACT is a therapy that draws on a language and cognition model called relational frame theory. It uses various techniques from other approaches to help people accept their thoughts, feelings, sensations, and beliefs, even if they are unpleasant. ACT aims to help people change their behaviour in ways that improve their quality of life.
NT
Narrative Therapy
NT is a therapeutic approach that draws on the power of storytelling. It helps people to separate themselves from the problems they face and to recognize their own strengths, values, and skills. Narrative therapy supports people to use their existing resources and experiences to overcome challenges and create positive change in their lives.
PE
Psychoeducation
Psychoeducation is a way of teaching people about their mental health condition. It helps them understand the symptoms, causes, effects, and treatments of their diagnosis. Psychoeducation also gives them information about medication, recovery, and coping strategies. Psychoeducation is not a therapy, but it can support other forms of therapy and improve the outcomes.
Skills Training
Skills training includes problem solving skills and training, anger management, social skills training, communication training, stress management and parent management training.
SK
RS
